Water Parameters for Decorative Aquatic Shrimp

There are two main types of shrimp that are aquarium friendly. Neocaridina shrimp are generally a more robust species that do fine in tap water and cooler temperatures. These shrimp are generally bred in outdoor conditions. Caridina shrimp are a bit more sensitive. They require a lower TDS with much more stable tank conditions. We recommend using reverse osmosis water that is remineralized with shrimp specific additives to successfully keep a breeding colony of Caridina shrimp.
