Reaching a size of 6 to 8 inches, the Half Black Angelfish makes a captivating centerpiece in any aquarium, showcasing both beauty and personality.

    Half Black Angelfish Care Guide
Half Black Angelfish are relatively hardy, making them suitable for both beginner and experienced aquarists. A minimum tank size of 20 gallons is recommended for a single angelfish, with larger tanks needed for a breeding pair or community setups. They thrive in water temperatures ranging from 76°F to 82°F and prefer a slightly acidic to neutral pH between 6.5 and 7.5. Maintaining stable water conditions is crucial for their health and well-being, as fluctuations can lead to stress or illness.

Ideal Tank Setup for Half Black Angelfish
To create an ideal environment for Half Black Angelfish, provide a well-planted tank with plenty of hiding spots and open swimming space. Incorporating floating plants, driftwood, and rocks helps mimic their natural habitat and provides security. These fish are known to enjoy calm waters, so a gentle filtration system is best. It’s also important to keep the tank covered with a secure lid, as angelfish can be prone to jumping if startled.

    Diet and Feeding
Half Black Angelfish are omnivorous and require a balanced diet to thrive. A high-quality staple food, such as flakes or pellets formulated for angelfish, should form the basis of their diet. They also benefit from occasional treats of live or frozen foods, including brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia, which provide essential protein and help enhance their colors. Feeding them small portions two to three times a day ensures they receive adequate nutrition without overloading the tank with uneaten food.

Compatible Tank Mates for Half Black Angelfish
Half Black Angelfish are generally peaceful but can exhibit territorial behavior, especially during breeding or in smaller tanks. Ideal tank mates include other peaceful cichlids, tetras, rasboras, and catfish such as Corydoras. It’s important to avoid housing them with small or timid fish, as well as larger, aggressive species that could stress them. Keeping them in a well-planned community with ample space and hiding spots helps maintain harmony.

    Lifespan and Health
With proper care, Half Black Angelfish can live for 10 years or more. Regular water changes of about 25% weekly, along with consistent monitoring of water parameters, are essential for their health. Observing them for signs of stress or illness, such as changes in behavior or appetite, allows for early detection and treatment of potential health issues.

The Half Black Angelfish is an elegant and visually captivating species that adds beauty and character to freshwater aquariums. With their stunning appearance, manageable care requirements, and dynamic personality, these angelfish are a fantastic choice for aquarists looking to enhance their tank with a touch of grace. Whether kept as a single specimen or in a community setting, the Half Black Angelfish is sure to be a standout addition to any aquarium.
