    DESCRIPTION

The Gold Head Compressiceps Cichlid (Altolamprologus compressiceps "Gold Head") is a distinct and attractive cichlid species originating from Lake Tanganyika in East Africa. Known for its unique appearance and interesting behaviors, this cichlid is sought after by aquarists who appreciate the diversity of Tanganyikan cichlids.

Here's more information about the Gold Head Compressiceps Cichlid:

    1. Coloration: The Gold Head Compressiceps Cichlid is named for its striking golden head, which contrasts with its body color. The body coloration can vary but is often a mix of silver, gray, or brown shades.

    2. Size: These cichlids can grow to be around 5 to 7 inches (12 to 18 cm) in length.

    3. Habitat: In their natural habitat of Lake Tanganyika, Gold Head Compressiceps Cichlids are found in rocky or sandy areas along the substrate.

    4. Behavior: These cichlids have a unique hunting strategy. They use their elongated bodies to hide in crevices or crevices between rocks, then shoot out to catch smaller fish by surprise.

    5. Tank Setup: Provide a setup with plenty of rocks, caves, and crevices to mimic their natural habitat. Create hiding spots and territories to accommodate their behavior.

    6. Water Conditions: Gold Head Compressiceps Cichlids prefer water with a pH range of 7.8 to 9.0 and a temperature range of 74 to 82°F (23 to 28°C). Maintaining stable water parameters is important.

    7. Diet: Offer high-quality cichlid pellets, flakes, and occasional live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, or small fish.

    8. Compatibility: When selecting tankmates, consider other peaceful Tanganyikan cichlids with similar water and habitat requirements.

    9. Breeding: Breeding Gold Head Compressiceps Cichlids can be challenging due to their specific habitat and behaviors. Provide plenty of hiding spots for females to lay eggs and guard their fry.

The Gold Head Compressiceps Cichlid's unique appearance and behavior make it an intriguing addition to Tanganyikan cichlid setups. As with any cichlid species, it's important to provide proper care, suitable tankmates, and attention to their social dynamics to ensure their well-being in the aquarium.
